According to cargurus for the 1994 Dodge Dakota. Once again, the Dodge Dakota has to be first at everything.  Rack and pinion, V8 engine, anti-lock brakes.  In 1994, the Dakota is the first pickup to install a driver's side airbag.  Additional safety measures included side door guard beams and extra knee padding.  Not that the Dakota necessarily needed it.  Most drivers proclaim its sturdiness, both truck and passengers able to emerge unscathed from accidents and collisions with animal, vegetable, or mineral.

The 1994 Dakota's engines had a slight decrease in horsepower, with the 3.9-liter V6 reduced from 180 to 175-hp, and the V8 down ten horsepower to 220-hp.  The V8 is still the favorite, despite its poor fuel economy.  It turns this mid-size truck into a full-size cargo hauler, able to compete with the big boys.  And it's fun to drive.  The roomy cab makes for a comfortable ride, with optional bucket and split-folding seats.  The rear bench is cramped, but offers extra storage under the seats.  New this year is a high-mounted center brake light in the rear.  WS trim (Work Special) replaced the SE, and the LE trim was renamed SLT.

2WD comes standard and 4WD is optional, and Dakota drivers compliment its off-road handling.  Along with high marks for safety, comfort, and dependability, low marks were given for the wide turning radius and repair record.
